Foley’s Hometown Halloween Gives Families a Thursday-Night Head Start
Free downtown festivities October 29, with a 6 p.m. costume contest
By Gulf Coast Navigator ·

Families can start Halloween weekend early in downtown Foley. Hometown Halloween takes place Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 5:30–8 p.m., with free admission. The date gives households an option for costumes and community activities two days before Halloween itself.
The city’s announced activities include games, inflatables, face painting, a cake walk and treats. Local businesses, churches and community organizations help fill the event area with booths, making this a chance to meet some of the people behind Foley’s community groups and businesses.
Plan around the 6 p.m. costume contest
For anyone hoping to enter the costume contest, the key time is 6 p.m.—just 30 minutes after festivities begin. Arriving near opening gives your household time to get oriented before the contest starts.
The city lists categories for children, teens, adults and groups, with more than $1,000 in prizes planned. Its current announcement does not explain contestant check-in, so confirm those instructions before arriving if competing is your main reason for attending.
Know which downtown you’re heading to
Foley Main Street places the celebration at South Alston Street and West Laurel Avenue in historic downtown Foley. Use that location when planning your route; this event is separate from Halloween programming at Downtown OWA.
A simple evening plan is to arrive for opening, make the costume contest your first priority if participating, then explore the activities afterward. If you want dinner nearby, check the restaurant’s Thursday hours and allow time before the event.
Check the organizer before leaving
The City of Foley event page and Visit Foley listing are the best starting points for updates. Check again on October 29 for weather notices or changes before heading downtown.
